7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (June 8)
5. All Action For The All-Atlantic
Buddy Matthews and PAC's match was so destined to be a ripper that it was announced before the title it ended up being fought for.
A toasted Wednesday afternoon graphic drop, the singles match between representatives of House Of Black and Death Triangle respectively delivered on lofty expectations despite the sudden news that it was actually serving as the first qualifier in the All-Atlantic Championship tournament.
PAC may be the most underrated wrestler in the world. It's not that people don't stop to praise his work because they justifiably do. But his consistent hit rate is out of this world, and there were exchanges in this that - as with their Double Or Nothing flash points - literally beggared belief. Matthews as an almost-mirror image makes for one of his best natural rivals, to the extent where their futuristic offence here was normalised but only in the best possible sense.
The feud between the two stables might be stagnant, but nothing stands still when these forces of nature collide.
