Tito Santana would go on to appear at the first eight WrestleManias (and do dark duties at the ninth), so it feels fitting that the popular white meat babyface could kick off the 'Showcase Of The Immortals' with a showcase for himself.

Working as an old faithful gimmick for the territory, the future 'Playboy' Buddy Rose donned the Executioner hood to make his own lone WrestleMania appearance, but was really little more than a warm body for Tito to despatch before he moved on to bigger and better things later in the night.

Inofensive and reliably enjoyable without outstaying its welcome, the match was Santana's entire appeal in a microcosm. Crucially, it's still eminently watchable for younger audiences - a grizzled twenty minute grapplefest kicking off the first ever WrestleMania may chase fans off before they've even settled in.
