The Beast in the East card advertised in advance had seven matches listed, but only five made the broadcast. Two bouts Cesaro versus Diego and New Day versus Lucha Dragons took place before the show went on the air. An argument can be made that this was a house show, and often things happen there and during dark matches that arent canon to WWE storylines, perhaps such as the Dragons defeating New Day. However, Cesaro wrestled for Pro Wrestling Noah for some time and easily could have found his way onto the show, especially after his performance against John Cena on Raw. Cesaro won his match in about 8 minutes according to reports, and WWE could have easily shaved five minutes off the main event tag match (more on that later) and the post-match celebration that went on for what seemed like another 10 minutes. This was an easy opportunity to give Cesaro a televised win in front of a lively crowd that would have helped make him seem like a bigger deal, but WWE opted for extra chinlocks and kicks from Kane and King Barrett instead.
