7 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Roadblock

1. Divas Get Time To Shine

One of the biggest criticisms leveled against WWE in this Divas Revolution has been that although match quality has improved, storylines (such as the entire never-ending three-team battles) have been poor at times, and matches have still been short and not given the time to develop as much as men€™s bouts do.

That changed on Saturday, when Natalya challenged Charlotte for her Divas Championship. The match was set up with a simple backstage interview, with Charlotte dismissing her opponent as not being on her level, which prompted Natalya to dare her to put the title up in that case.

The match itself was nothing short of a clinic, with both women doing chain wrestling, trading submission holds and just slapping the taste out of each other€™s mouth while Nattie was in the Figure Four.

The match had time to develop and tell a story, and the announcers did a good job noting Natalya and Charlotte€™s history together, even recalling that Charlotte beat Nattie with Natural Selection in 2014 to win the NXT Women€™s Championship. This is the kind of match we see on NXT in the women€™s division, but rarely get to see in WWE.

This was a treat, and hopefully, it won€™t be so rare going forward. Don€™t hold your breath, but just hope.
