5. Strowman, Angle Stand Tall

When WWE plugged that Kurt Angle had an announcement to make on Raw, you had to wonder if they’d actually go through with a retirement, or if they’d call an audible. We clearly got the latter, as Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin interrupted him.

Corbin and McIntyre threatened to beat the Hall-of-Famer into retirement, but Braun Strowman saved him, setting up a tag team main event, which gave us an Angle match where he could work in his signature spots without having to carry Corbin, and it gave Strowman something to do in the wake of a disappointing Royal Rumble.

It wasn’t a classic by any standard, but as thrown-together tag matches go, this was a popular decision among the fans in attendance.

As an aside, we’re still eight-plus weeks away from WrestleMania, but this match raises the question of what these four men will be doing that night.
