6. We’re Really Getting This Match

A few weeks ago, this column listed Baron Corbin facing Kurt Angle in his final WWE match as an “up.”

Since then, we’ve seen Angle face Chad Gable in a battle of Olympians and Kurt square off against former TNA rivals AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. Those matches – combined with his supremely punchable face – have reinforced that Corbin is a completely unsuitable man for Angle to face in his farewell match.

Any of the three other wrestlers mentioned would have been better as final opponents because of their history or shared backgrounds. And of course, there’s John Cena, who debuted on SmackDown 17 years ago by answering an open challenge from Angle.

But we’re getting Corbin. This could still land in the “ups” column on Sunday, provided Angle humiliates Baron. But if we get some beatdown from Corbin, or God forbid, a Baron win, then the flames will be firing.
