7 Ups And 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Feb 1)

7. Truthfully, This Stinks

Let€™s get this out of the way: Goldust is a wonderful character to have on the roster, a highly entertaining, experienced wrestler who still has something to bring to the table. And R-Truth, despite being largely an overused joke, can make a good contribution to WWE still. Regardless, these two men are in their mid-40s and haven€™t been serious contenders for anything in a few years. (Goldust was a tag champ with Stardust in late 2014, but that was a blip on the radar rather than long-term viability.) Instead of them being the €œalready in the ring€ opponent, they are getting backstage segments to highlight Goldust€™s courtship of R-Truth for a tag team that will probably be headlining Main Event and Superstars soon.Meanwhile a tag team like the Ascension is the €œalready in the ring€ team, and Tyler Breeze is getting squashed by Titus O€™Neil. Wouldn€™t a backstage segment for these guys help establish them just a little, give fans a reason to get invested in these relatively new wrestlers, rather than focusing on longtime, outgoing talent? Just a thought.
