After Vince McMahon lost to Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania XIX and then McMahon retailiated by forcing Hogan to sit out his contract, the mysterious "Mr. America" debuted on Smackdown in a Piper's Pit segment. Vince McMahon appeared and claimed that "Mr. America" was a disguised Hulk Hogan, but Mr. America said, "I am not Hulk Hogan, brother!" The Mr. America run was a bizarre one that involved Mr. America wrestling Roddy Piper, and even engaging in an arm-wrestling contest with McMahon in defense of Zach Gowen. Eventually, Hogan quit WWE as many facets of the Mr. America angle frustrated him. On the July 3, 2013 episode of Smackdown, Vince McMahon showed footage of Mr. America unmasking as Hogan and "fired" him, though, as aforementioned, Hogan had already quit.
