7 Ways WWE Should Continue Buddy Murphy’s Push
7. Keep Him Heel
Yes, the fans have started chanting his name. Yes, WWE generally should listen and pay attention to these sorts of things, case in point the failed heel turn for Rollins. Yet in the case of Buddy Murphy, turning him face now could be disastrous.
One of the unique things about Murphy has been how quickly he has made himself at home on the main roster. He just gives off an aura of deserving to be there. It is this sort of cocky, calm confidence that has made his on-screen time feel so special. Diluting that by making him juggle a face turn lessen the organic nature of his recent rise.
And if we are to believe that Buddy will eventually be positioned to reach the top of the card, it'd be great to have a heel up there. After all, people love Kofi Kingston and his run with the WWE Championship. But who has been his reign-defining feud so far? It may very well have peaked at the moment he won the belt from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.
And that is no fault of his own either. It has just been a lack of strong heel competition. Or in the case of Samoa Joe, bad booking and lack of build-up. We had to have Randy Orton return from injury for a proper big-name opponent. We didn’t even see a proper pay-per-view rematch between Kofi and Bryan. Building a good heel to reach the top is well needed and well-deserved for Kofi.
Keep that thought in mind, but speaking of Daniel Bryan...
