What do you do with a legitimate hard bastard like Dan Severn, a man carrying so many combat belts he could have kept the trousers of a small army from falling down? Push him as exactly what he is, a no-nonsense tough guy, who 'takes no prisoners' and all the corollary clichés?

That's what WWE did, for a bit, until they realised he'd need more 'character' if he was to be a regular in the Attitude-tastic air. For some reason, the best idea they came up with was having Severn join The Undertaker's evil Ministry of Darkness - but not without tattooing '666' on his forehead first.
