7 Wrestlers WWE Called Up In The WORST Way Possible

6. Odyssey Jones

The relative merits of Odyssey Jones are entirely subjective.

He didn't have the shine or talent of someone like Sol Ruca or Oba Femi, and so fans were never under the impression that he was going to be an elite tier talent on WWE's roster. Nevertheless, the circumstances of his debut gave him absolutely no chance of ever reaching any level of success.

After suffering defeat to Dijak on the 4 April 2023 episode of NXT, Jones found himself being called up to Monday Night Raw. In NXT, he'd lost every match against meaningful competition that he'd ever had (LA Knight, Roderick Strong, Grayson Waller, Carmelo Hayes etc), but he was then left on the shelf for a whole calendar year.

Putting aside that he would've been better served by honing his skills on NXT, the idea of calling someone up to not use them on TV for a whole year is preposterous. By the time he was haphazardly thrown onto Raw with New Day, fans could be forgiven for having forgotten about him entirely. The New Day is a family, and just expecting fans to buy Jones as a new member was fanciful at best, and he was let go for activity away from the ring shortly after debuting in August 2024 anyway.
