It's not often WWE are lauded for showing the courage to try something fresh at this time of year. Between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, the company commonly go into auto-pilot and focus more on ushering in old favourites for a quick nostalgia fix or seeking the endorsement of celebrity.

They certainly don't take risks with the regular roster during a (rare) period when hardcore fans and casual viewers alike come together for 'Mania season. This year marks a departure from that formula, because WWE have already shown some bravery in taking adventurous steps away from the norm in 2018.

Established monsters are experimenting with comedy, new platforms WWE can use to produce content are being explored, a previously-ignored division is being pushed to the forefront, and there's even the promise of serious pro wrestlers stealing the show at WrestleMania 34.
