8 Reasons WWE SummerSlam Will Be Better Than WrestleMania 31

With a little luck, SummerSlam could upstage the biggest show of the year.

WrestleMania 31 was, against all odds, a good show. It featured several great matches (most notably the main event and the Intercontinental Championship ladder match) and a finale that is sure to go down as one of the most dramatic in 'Mania history. Critics were forced to eat their words and admit that, for the second year in a row, the WWE had pulled it out of the bag. But let's not get carried away. Sure, WrestleMania 31 was a PPV that greatly exceeded expectations, but it was merely the good side of average. Although it remains one of the better shows of the year, there's no reason it can't be eclipsed by SummerSlam. This month's pay per view will be just as long as 'Mania, and has the potential to completely outshine its more lauded cousin. The build to SummerSlam has been similarly underwhelming, but there are several indications that the show could prove to be a certified banger. On the surface it seems admittedly unlikely; only a handful of bouts have been announced, one a seemingly needless rehash of a disappointing 'Mania 30 match, and the others hardly pulse-pounding classics. Despite this, there are several reasons August will see the best WWE show of the year. WrestleMania 31 triumphed in the face of adversary; why can't SummerSlam do the same? It might even surpass it.
