8 Things We Learned From AJ Styles, Kevin Nash, & Shawn Michaels On Table For 3

3. The Prospect Of A Styles/Michaels Match

Shawn named his favorite match with Nash as Kevin’s last major bout in WWE before heading to WCW, which was the No Holds Barred contest at In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies. Production then briefly intersperses some clips of the contest, which shows both men working extremely hard.

Kevin talked about the natural comparison between the two workers on either side of him due to the similarities in their athleticism and style, saying that outside of the acrobatics they’re both well versed in the basics such as punching and kicking. He feels both of their work looks great and it was a breeze for him to tangle with either one because it was always the David/Goliath story, one of wrestling's easiest in-ring tales.

AJ called those types of stories easy to sell, while a bout between he and HBK would be much more difficult to put together. Despite being the same size with similar skill sets, “we’d have to work our tails off.”

Shawn claimed that even though absolutely nothing would thrill him more, at 51 years old he doesn't think he can do it at the level he once did. Nash quickly interjected that if anyone could it would be HBK, labeling him the Michael Jordan of wrestling.

Then Shawn posed the question of, “Who wins? From a business standpoint, what do you do?”

AJ was at a loss for an answer and just stared blankly, while Michaels added that if they take the sentimentality route of having him go over Styles, it hurts his opponent and the long term health of the company.

Kevin joked that “the other place” (TNA) had him beat Styles all the time, and he had long gray hair while AJ was their top guy, eliciting a chuckle from the entire group. Shawn added that if he’s going to come back and lose then, creatively, that’s anti-climactic as well.
