7. The Commentators Went Heavy On Patriotism

Remember when Jinder Mahal won the WWE Title and was subsequently treated to a traditional Indian celebration on SmackDown? That was the kind of treatment those Hindi announcers gave Jinder at Battleground when the reigning WWE Champion walked to the ring ready for the Punjabi Prison.

Going heavy on a patriotic vibe, the commentary team remarked that Mahal was representing all 1.3 billion Indian people across the globe and that he was an all-conquering hero who consistently makes his country proud. That's not the story WWE spin to the United States/English-speaking world. Conversely, Jinder is a coward who hates America for treating him differently.

Repeatedly, the announcers stated that "India stands with Jinder". This is more interesting when combined with reports that WWE are worried Mahal isn't quite registering with the Indian demographic and that's why The Great Khali was brought back.

WWE's Hindi announcers were presumably instructed to big Jinder up to his native people.
