8 Time-Bending Wrestling Facts That Will Melt Your Brain
8. We Are Closer To WrestleMania 80 Than WrestleMania 1
The importance of WrestleMania has recently been called into question, with AJ Styles suggesting that the Showcase of the Immortals has lost its luster. Some have pointed to the biggest event in wrestling losing its sense of occasion when it morphed into a two-night event, while others have defended the biggest show on the WWE calendar by noting that WrestleMania 40 was one of the most successful and acclaimed in company history.
Maybe one of the reasons fans are having this debate is down to how long WrestleMania has been trucking along at this point. In 2026, we are closer to WrestleMania 80 than we are to the first WrestleMania. In some ways, this is easy enough to compartmentalize. 80's pop sensation Cyndi Lauper was a huge part of the first WrestleMania, and her biggest hit, 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun', is older than Cody Rhodes. Even still, it's crazy to consider this fact when written down.
Using this same train of thought, we are as close to WrestleMania 60 as we are away from The Rock and Hulk Hogan's classic encounter at WrestleMania 18 this year.
