8 Times AEW's Tony Khan Was A DISASTER-TIER Booker
8. Jay White
When 'Switchblade' Jay White made the decision to leave NJPW, AEW and WWE were both interested in acquiring his services. This is with good reason, as Jay is one of the most intense and compelling performers in the world today. AEW won that battle, but, despite his obvious talent being on display throughout his time working for Tony Khan, his booking has been something of a car crash.
There are two incidents that really stand out as being damaging to White's credibility. Losing to an injured MJF in the main event of Revolution 2023 made him look weaker than he deserves. Being defeated by AEW's one-legged world champion was a unanimously vilified and completely unnecessary tragedy. Then there's the insane booking in Jay's match with a 61-year old Billy Gunn on the March 4th, 2024 episode of Dynamite. Having to resort to a low blow after taking an ass-whooping from the former DX man was ridiculous on every level.
Pairing him with fellow Bullet Club member Juice Robinson and The Gunn Club, White has led Bullet Club Gold perfectly and is still immensely popular with AEW fans. He is in line for a massive push this year when he returns from a long-term hand injury, and he'll deserve it after the nonsense he has suffered so far under Khan's stewardship.
