5. Trey's Troubles

Trey was once again found laid out backstage, as the mystery behind his attacker(s) continues to intensify. He was ambushed during the show-opened World Tag Team Championships match, eliminating Dez, Wentz, Ethan Page, Josh Alexander, and referee Brandon Tolle from the question.

These sorts of angles are always intriguing, but they have to be handled carefully. If you build it up for weeks and weeks, only to have it culminate in a disappointing ending, it makes everything that occurred beforehand entirely redundant. Say, for example, Trey's attacker is revealed at Slammiversary to be Michael Elgin, that would be rather disappointing seeing as 'Big Mike' is already being branded as one of the top culprits. Unless something drastically changed with Elgin between now and then, no-one wants to see that climax.

It needs to be a massive surprise. Something that's being teased in grand fashion for that very pay-per-view. That's not to say all will be revealed on 18 July, though it's a likely bet.
