Meanwhile, the promotion is doing everything in its power to heap sympathy on Raquel Rodriguez. This week, Raquel cut a spirited promo backstage in the doctor's room, then took another pasting from resident bad bitches Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. WWE achieved everything they set out to accomplish in 90 seconds here.
That's a win.
Rodriguez said she'd still look to compete in next week's 'Gauntlet' bout, then had her arm destroyed by cold-hearted heels who just love causing chaos. The skit did wonders to cast Raquel as someone willing to fight through pain, and it also made the Rousey/Baszler combo look dangerous.
That duo looks so much more effective when they cut out the giggles, put on their cage-fighting faces and physically overwhelm opponents. This was a short and to-the-point segment designed to promote an upcoming match, and it's hard to pick holes in that sort of booking.
