8 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Emergence 2021
Christian vs. Ace is set, plus Josh Alexander, Jake Something, Deonna Purrazzo, and more!
Emergence 2021 ruled.
Since bringing back their monthly IMPACT Plus specials last October, IMPACT is yet to see one of them flop entirely, though January's Genesis came close. For their August outing, the second Emergence boasted immaculate professional wrestling where it lacked in decent story arcs.
Take Christian Cage vs. Brian Myers and Josh Alexander vs. Jake Something as examples. The only story to them is that Myers and Something won respective number one contender's matches to earn a World and X Division Championship match at Emergence, and yet the in-ring in both encounters was incredible. Alexander vs. Something, in particular, was a sensational title match that put Jake up on that level with Josh. Here's hoping that continues.
It wasn't a complete success, as failed outings like Madison Rayne vs. Taylor Wilde didn't quite hit the mark. Regardless, they still served their purpose on the card. For Rayne vs. Wilde, it came after Steve Maclin and Petey Williams' decent match, and before the flawless four-way contest, essentially acting as a cool-down match.
Victory Road is up next on 18 September, with Ace Austin challenging the World Champion, Christian Cage. Until then, let's get to it...
