A lot of times, writers will book a heel or face turn to freshen up a character and give them a renewed push.

But in the case of Dean Ambrose, it’s been almost all downhill since he turned on Seth Rollins last fall. Sure, Ambrose won the Intercontinental Championship and held it briefly, but he’s been in a spiral lately, with his run in the Royal Rumble lasting about 10 minutes and ending at the hands of Aleister Black.

Monday night, he challenged Seth Rollins to a match, only to lose cleanly to a curbstomp (sold comically by Ambrose). But it got worse for Dean.

Afterward, Ambrose sat in the ring presumably because he had something to say, only to be interrupted by Nia Jax, who blindsided him and knocked him out of the ring, the final humiliation to his night.

It’s just a strange, awful journey for Ambrose lately, and God only knows what’s next for him.
