Give Chris Jericho credit for taking an entire bit about a potted plant and making it relevant to his angle with Dean Ambrose, and then mocking fans for tweeting their condolences to Mitch the plant. He made that part of the segment funny, but it also was sad.
Dont get it wrong: Fans were just having fun with the entire RIP Mitch meme that went around last week after Y2J blasted Ambrose with the potted plant. And it was pretty funny. But heres the problem: WWE then took it seriously. Michael Cole called it Mitch the Plant, which was coveted by Ambrose and a mainstay on the Ambrose Asylum.
And you know that when Ambrose returns to exact revenge on Jericho, its going to be to avenge the loss of Mitch. Because WWE. The joke about the plant was funny for 10 seconds, fans had their run with it on social media, but you already can see the creative team salivating at the chance to beat it into the ground.
