Give WWE an opportunity to beat a childish nickname or catchphrase to death in a desperate attempt to get it over, and theyll take that chance every time. It never fails. In this case, the writers (you have to assume its the writers and not Chris Jericho himself) latched on to a phrase Y2J said last week, referring to New Day as rooty, tooty, booty, a small play off Big Es constant use of the word booty. What was childish and silly last week became the hot new catchphrase this week, with Jericho leading the crowd in a chant of it Monday night. Dont get it wrong: Professional wrestling is full of childish chants, catchphrases and nicknames. The Rock, probably the most quotable superstar in the modern era, has used some nursery rhyme-quality putdowns before. But what made rooty, tooty, booty worse (beyond the nonsensical phrase itself) is that Jericho pulled out an actual good insult Monday night, telling New Day that the Usos were going to kick the horns off of you My Little Pony jabronis. Now that is a quality childish nickname. But expect the creative team to stay wedded to rooty, tooty, booty for the next 10 weeks, beating it into the ground.
