8 Wrestlers John Cena Didn't Bury
4. Kevin Owens
When Kevin Owens strolled out on Monday Night Raw holding the NXT championship and promptly refused to challenge John Cena for his U.S. title, it made for quite the introduction.
With his brash persona and scathing promos, Owens immediately captured the attention of the 'WWE Universe' but the question was whether Vinny Mac and co- would allow the NXT champ to look strong against their poster boy.
When they squared off at Elimination Chamber 2015, hardcore wrestling fans hoped that Owens could pick up the win against Mr Hustle, Loyalty & Respect, but few expected him to actually pull it off. Or to do it via a clean pinfall. It was an incredible moment to end a great match and essentially made Owens a superstar overnight, such is the significance of a clean win over John Cena.
Sure, Cena then had to win their next two matches to look strong again which temporarily stalled Owens' momentum but KO's talent ensured he continued to impress on the main roster. And given that Owens is currently tearing it up as the WWE Universal Champion on the promotion's flagship show, it's safe to say that his shocking win over Cena sent him on the path to greatness.
