Bray Wyatt and Lucha Underground are a match made in heaven, or at least a match made in wherever it is that Bray Wyatt comes from. Wyatt is a supernatural character in a time where WWE is in love with realism, a WWE where the rise of mixed martial arts has led to focus shifting to striking and the using of real names and toughness. Wyatt is a throwback to a time where cryptic threats and supernatural ability were major themes to pro wrestling heels. Lucha Underground is the anti-WWE in many ways. It is a world where the fantastical is embraced, and the threats of the evil come with a real force, a real danger. A murderous monster in a cage can be a reality, because the show strips away any of the pretence that seems to bog a lot of pro wrestling down. It is a show, wrestling as is written and directed by an independent filmmaker. Bray Wyatt fits into this world perfectly. Who wouldn't to see Dario Cueto retaking the Temple, with Matanza running wild only for the lights to go out, a match to flick and a familiar voice to whisper 'we're here'? It would be a moment for the ages, and Wyatt would excel in the role I'm sure. No longer would he claim to have harvested the souls of monsters, only for them to return the next week with no damage done. His ethereal talk of violence and change could be backed up by action, left to flourish rather than blunted by the restraints that come with World Wrestling Entertainment. Lucha Underground is where Bray Wyatt should be, the only place where the Bray Wyatt character can reach its obvious potential.
