The 'Straight-Edge Superstar' isn't afraid to say what's on his mind. Given that Vince likes his employees to do as they're told and not complain, it was obvious that two strong personalities like Punk and Vince would have some prickly moments together. Punk's WWE career got off to a bad start when he had a match in 2005 that Vince's son-in-law Triple H, along with Shawn Michaels and a bunch of road agents, completely buried. Punk was sent to OVW to 'learn how to work' and struck up a friendship with Paul Heyman, somebody who has also butted heads with Vince on numerous occasions. Vince never seemed to have complete faith in Punk until, in 2011, Punk caught fire with his infamous worked shoot promo and he significantly increased his standing backstage. Punk was ready to leave WWE in summer 2011 but stuck around after demanding and receiving an improved contract and several perks, including his own tour bus. By January 2014, Punk had had enough of the politics, the injuries and the fact that he was never going to main event WrestleMania as long as Vince kept picking The Rock, John Cena and even The Miz ahead of him. Punk famously no-showed the Raw following the Royal Rumble and hasn't appeared for WWE since, referring to himself as a 'retired' wrestler. Whether Punk returns or not, by leaving on his own terms with his reputation intact, he had made himself an even bigger star and stuck it to Vince.
