8 WWE Superstars Whose Social Media Activity Backfired
8. Baron Corbin Accidentally Calls Out A Veteran
Oh dear.
For anybody who keeps up with Baron Corbin's Twitter activity, you'll be well aware that the recent King of the Ring winner most certainly lives up to his billing as one of the top heels in WWE. Much like his in-ring antics generate a hugely negative response, so too do some of his social media interactions. Not least, when King Corbin called out military veteran Mike Gilbert.
Doing his Corbin shtick of shooting down wrestling fans on Twitter, the former United States Champion was unaware that one of the fans he'd labelled a loser was actually a member of the US military who'd personally met Vince McMahon a year prior.
To Gilbert's credit, he actually deleted his initial follow-up to Corbin's loser line. Said follow-up was a resposting of the below image.
Given WWE's close ties and long-standing relationship with the US military, any negativity towards those serving is a major no-no. To defend Corbin, he wasn't aware that his Twitter beef was with a veteran, but that doesn't stop this being an awful look for the grappler and for World Wrestling Entertainment, period.
Baron had simply been out to stir the pot and garner some Twitter heat, yet this ultimately ended with The Lone Wolf with egg on his face - and, more significantly, was one of the reasons for his failed Money in the Bank cash-in against Jinder Mahal.
