7. Showdown With Wyatt At No Mercy
Of course, all of that mind games business has to be leading somewhere. Plus, Orton and Wyatt were supposed to have a match back at Backlash a few weeks ago. So even though it hasn’t been officially announced yet, at this point it seems all but guaranteed that Orton and Wyatt will eventually square off in singles action at the No Mercy pay-per-view on Oct. 9.
Something that’s a little less clear-cut though, is the small matter of who’ll be coming out on top, and more to the point; who’s more in need of coming out on top.
You could argue that Orton could do with a win after that SummerSlam massacre at the hands of Lesnar, but on the other hand, Wyatt hasn’t won a one-on-one PPV match since all the way back in July of 2015.
Admittedly, that’s because most of his PPV appearances since then have been multi-man matches of some form or another, but nonetheless it still means that both guys are in need of victory.
Then again, there’s always a chance that this feud won’t be a one-and-done deal, especially if we consider the event that will follow it on the SmackDown PPV schedule...
