All Elite Wrestling has attempted to paint itself as a babyface promotion from its inception, but a babyface is only as good as the promises they keep.
Today, we break down the pledges that Tony Khan and his Executive Vice Presidents have stayed true to since their company came to life in Jacksonville back in January 2019, focusing primarily on explicit statements made during press conferences and interviews rather than vague, throwaway comments.
At least for now, the promotion appears to have the trust of its core audience. There's a feeling that time invested will be rewarded through logical A-to-B storytelling, not punished, though the viewership numbers show AEW still has a long way to go to capture a wider audience. Regardless, news that Orange Cassidy vs. Jimmy Havoc was Dynamite's biggest ratings winner on 22 April shows even the product's more divisive elements have a degree of pull.
