9 Promises AEW Have Made Since Launching (And HAVE Kept)

9. A Lighter Schedule

Mainstream American wrestling's gruelling road schedule has been a bone of contention for decades, with WWE's crazy mileage (pre-2020, that is: they have calmed down a lot this year, even before the global health crisis) one of the biggest reasons why their injury list is often colossal despite a supposedly "safer" product.

Tony Khan promised something gentler in his pre-Dynamite interview with Pro Wrestling Torch's Wade Keller in October 2019. With no immediate plans to run house shows, the AEW President said that for its first few months, AEW would run only on Wednesdays for Dynamite plus the occasional Saturday for pay-per-views. They were out to promote a healthier work/life balance and wanted to never reach a situation where they were doing shows 5-6 days a week, and while Khan would like to hit a target of 85-125 dates a year eventually, his "not every wrestler needs to be on every show" philosophy would prevent people from being overworked.

So far, so truthful. AEW is yet to run a single house show and while the ongoing global situation has thrown everything for a loop, at least they've been able to offer a calendar that doesn't kill their wrestlers' bodies.
