9 Reasons WWE Should Bring Back The Cruiserweight Championship

1. It Can Help Bring Back Former Viewers Who Miss The Action

While it€™s true that we see high-flying wrestling on a regular basis now in WWE, more often than not, the wrestlers that present this exciting style aren€™t booked into long-term storylines and just put on high-flying moves just for the sake of eliciting a reaction. This problem would be solved if the cruiserweights of WWE had something to fight for. By crafting simple storylines around wrestlers wanting to be the best in their division (which the Cruiserweight Championship would signify), WWE would be able to speak to audiences that enjoyed the traditional aspect of pro wrestling as a competition. There€™s a reason so many former fans of WWE have turned away to TNA, Japan and the independent scene: since WWE stopped caring about the cruiserweight division, they no longer had a good reason to tune in to WWE programming. TNA, for example, still maintains a loyal fan following, and one of the main reasons for that is because of the exciting wrestling built around its X Division. With WWE€™s ratings at a worryingly-low point right now, it€™s time for them to extend the olive branch of peace with its more jaded fan segments, and cater to their requests by emphasizing cruiserweight wrestling (and its accompanying championship) once again.
