8. It Gives Otherwise Unused Superstars Something To Do
When you as large a roster as WWE has, instead of throwing them together in random matches because creative doesnt have anything for them, why not put them in qualifying matches for the Cruiserweight Championship? Assuming that this belt would have the same weight restriction as before (~100kg/225lbs.), then a large percentage of the current roster would be able to compete for the belt. Even if those wrestlers dont win the belt, or even become #1 contender for it, giving them something to strive for is better than the nonexistent booking thats (not) in place for many of them today. WWE currently seem to have a lack of planning when it comes to their existing titles, but that can be fixed by booking the champion as the center of a group of people. Imagine WWEs roster organized into a series of circles. The most important circle at the top has the WWEWHC and three or four top contenders. The second one beneath that one is the U.S. or Intercontinental title, and both those belt have three or four top contenders. Finally, for the remaining wrestlers on the roster with nothing to do in their singles careers, they can be placed in the cruiserweight division with the champion in the middle. If done properly, becoming the Cruiserweight Championship can be a genuine, important goal for many otherwise directionless wrestlers.
