6. The Jungle Hook

Jungle Boy Jack Perry’s match with Brian Cage existed in canon as a bit of afters from last week’s Battle Royale, but the fact of the fiction was more to do with Perry’s impressive recent ascension up the card.

Scoring a visual win with a tap-out, he coped with Prince Nana’s attempted interference and got the real one with a pin. This couldn’t have been any more committed to the Jungle Boy cause in the wake of his victory over Luchasaurus and continued absence of Christian Cage. Perry’s not on pause even if that feud is. And he gained some intriguing new support too.

Readying himself for another monster mash, he called Big Bill a “big bitch” and a “punk ass”, showing no fear of The Firm before they used their numerical advantage to leave him laying. The scene took another turn when Hook emerged to run them off and extend a hand to Perry.

The last few months have been about the Boy becoming a Man. Taking out AEW’s monsters and taking an even younger prospect under his wing will ensure this project continues in earnest.
