9 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 6)
5. Make Me Feel Like The One, Make Me Feel Like The One. The One.
After a gentle return debut early into NXT's USA Network run, Dakota Kai used last week's outstanding Tag Team Match alongside Tegan Nox against The Kabuki Warriors to re-announce herself as one of the most believable fight-from-underneath babyfaces in the entire business. She brought lashings more of it to the welcome surprise of a Shayna Baszler match at the backend of NXT's first hour.
'The Queen Of Spades' too was something very special indeed. The lone exhibition on this show of just how f*cking fantastic the loaded top bracket of the NXT Women's Division is, Baszler and Kai's fire-up and cut-off exhibition was audience manipulation of the highest order.
Kai almost tricked 'The Queen Of Spades' into slipping up - a striking duel didn't go the Champion's way and left her looking exhausted as a result. Her quick and cruel capture of the Kirifuda Clutch was a perfect coda for the story being told and, as per usual, a timely reminder of the devastation Baszler remains capable of.
