9 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 6)
7. Doubling Down
Damien Priest and Pete Dunne had another belter of a battle to kick off the in-ring portion of this week's episode following 'The Archer Of Infamy's ballshot-based win a fortnight earlier. F*cking around with 'The Bruiserweight' thankfully resulted in Dunne bringing out the worst of himself to level the series in a rematch even better than their first encounter.
The former Ring Of Honor star is still pleasingly rough around the edges in his relatively new role, but the experimentation with his smaller character touches add to the excitement bell-to-bell. Trying and failing to exert a power advantage over the p*ssed off former UK Champion, Priest was forced into a massive dive when his Plan A had evidently failed.
Lulling him into a false sense of security, Dunne shook off the worst of his assaults and dove for the fingers in a thrilling finish at the 15 minute mark following his own boot to the balls. "More of this please" should be the tagline for three quarters of these USA-era mini-feuds. Creating something from nothing as often as they do speaks to the remarkable success rate of this winning formula.
The post-match wasn't bad either.
