9 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jan 15)
6. Man Of The People
It wasn't as engaging as last week's concession area invasion, but WWE pushed the AJ Styles/Daniel Bryan story forward with a solid follow-up last night, as 'The Phenomenal One' bonded with his people in the same spot that the WWE Champion had chastised them seven days prior.
AJ started making his way down to the ring, then detoured backstage. He was mingling with fans on the concourse, getting them all fired up, shouting that paying their hard-earned money to be there let them "do what they want and eat what they want." Styles then launched some t-shirts around the place, before Bryan sprung from the crowd and brawled with his rival, only to have himself thrown through a table littered with hotdogs and mustard.
Bryan was made to look a complete tit. That's what he deserved after last week's tirade, and seeing him get his comeuppance mere feet away from the fans was an appropriate visual. There's little doubt he'll have been left disgusted, too, and while this segment was relatively brief, it should set the duo up for something big next week.
