9 Ups And 10 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 6 )
An awful episode that showed WWE's creative bankruptcy and pettiness.
If you thought Raw hitting its lowest ratings for a non-football week would spark some smart booking and captivating television, you’ve been deluding yourself.
You’re probably the type of person who thinks more McMahons is the solution to these ratines woes. You probably enjoyed The Revival’s struggles with icy hot gel. You probably thought nothing of Sami Zayn getting tossed in a trash bin for calling fans stupid losers. You probably love when authority figures book opponents as tag partners.
Maybe you’re a huge Shane McMahon mark. If so, you got to see Super-Shane show off his immunity to chairshots.
If you’re that type of person, congratulations. You’re part of a dwindling audience, so more power to you.
But for this writer, it is becoming difficult to defend programming like this. Had a friend been over when the entire Revival/Usos segment was on TV, there would have been no way to overlook writing that is too juvenile and stupid for most kids’ movies.
This episode is being graded pretty harshly because it was supposed to be an all-hands-on-deck show, with Vince McMahon helming it and several SmackDown superstars showing up to juice the ratings. This should have been WWE’s best foot being put forward.
Instead, the foot we got had a bad case of gangrene, and it’s still in need of treatment before it spreads.
