Typically when this column discusses announcers, it falls under the down category. But unlike what were most likely to hear on Sunday, TakeOver was bolstered by the work of its announcers Tom Phillips and Corey Graves. Phillips and Graves might have the typical friction that a play-by-play and color guy have, but they dont spend the PPV arguing with each other, yelling over the other and ignoring the action in the ring. Instead, they call the matches, describe the moves and relate how everything ties together. Graves was awesome telling people that if they arent excited about Sami Zayn versus Shinsuke Nakamura that they should check their pulse. Its something that is a lost art in WWE: announcers who add to the enjoyment of a wrestling event rather than being tolerable at best, mute-worthy at worst.
