9 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2020

WWE tries something different, with mixed results. At least it was short.

Let’s give WWE credit for trying something different Sunday night. It was refreshing to see the company get out of their comfort zone of 8-10 matches that last 10-20 minutes with a four-hour PPV. Instead, we got a six-match event that didn’t even come close to breaking three hours.

But at the same time, there were several misfires during this PPV, and some moments that hopefully won’t be repeated.

You get the feeling WWE feels like they struck gold with the Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36, and now they’re chasing the dragon (in a manner of speaking) with other attempts at cinematic wrestling matches.

The combined Money in the Bank ladder matches will be pretty divisive among fans. Some will love the fact that they are very unlike previous MITB bouts and had some unique spots. Others will feel that WWE fell short of their goal and delivered a disappointing romp through company headquarters.

The Money in the Bank PPV is certainly worth a watch – it’s less than three hours, so that’s encouraging – and there are some good matches, but you might find yourself disappointed at a few points throughout.

All in all, not a bad effort, but not the wonderful event that WWE will likely be selling on Raw and SmackDown.

Let’s get to it…
