9 WWE Championship Wins That Were Completely Overshadowed

6. Sheamus - Fatal-4-Way 2010

In the summer of 2010 Nexus was running roughshod over World Wrestling Entertainment. Nobody was safe, as the group of renegades and upstarts would interfere at every possible opportunity to destroy all and sundry. John Cena quickly became their main target, because obviously he was.

The main event of WWE Fatal-4-Way 2010 saw Cena defend his WWE Championship against Randy Orton, Edge and Sheamus in a, yes, Fatal-4-Way match. It was fairly clear to everyone that Nexus was going to get involved in the main event, but who would walk out as champion?

Sheamus seemed the least likely of the four to do so, yet it was the Celtic Warrior that walked out as WWE Champion that night in June. The finish came when Wade Barrett & co attacked Cena in the ring, before turning on Edge as the Rated-R Superstar tried to take advantage of the situation. This allowed Sheamus to slink in and pick up the win.

So Sheamus was the WWE Champion for the second time, but it was arguably the third biggest story coming out of the event. The growing beef between Cena and Nexus took centre stage, followed by questions as to why the group had targeted Edge as well.

Poor Sheamus. The fella deserved better than that.
