It is often called the moment that changed the Monday Night Wars, the very moment that saw momentum turn in favour of the World Wrestling Federation for good. WCW and WWF had been trading ratings leads for a few weeks, with over 10 million people tuning in to watch professional wrestling every Monday night.

WCW had been in a commanding position for the previous couple of years, however, and WWF's improvements had them looking more and more desperate.

Nitro was still live, and it would use this to its advantage by announcing the results of WWF matches before they happen.
