9 WWE Survivor Series 2020 Impulse Reactions
2. Drew McIntyre Vs. Roman Reigns
WWE dangled Drew McIntyre Vs Roman Reigns as if it was set to be taken away before it could happen. On the penultimate SmackDown before Survivor Series, a belt-less 'Scottish Psychopath' stepped up to the 'Tribal Chief', braving a hypothetical showdown before it was real.
Defeating Randy Orton made good on just a few days of anticipation, but could this WrestleMania-calibre match live up to the sudden sense of expectation? In a nutshell, no. Beyond that, no, and a big problem appeared to show itself - Roman Reigns, for the first time since turning heel, was annoyingly boring.
The big bearded men threw big bearded moves at each other as those behind the layout of this match threw away their notebooks and saved themselves the bother of a bit of effort. This laboured exhibition of Reigns' new am-dram bit had none of the ballsy grit that came baked in to his battles with Jey Uso.
Completely lacking in psychology - to such an extent that Michael Cole couldn't work out if Reigns was a cheating b*stard or an unreal warrior - this went on and on as we were fed every beat of a story that was patronisingly broad to begin with.
