Cody Rhodes isn't currently medically cleared to get physical on WWE television following a grisly eye injury suffered during his match vs. Randy Orton at this past weekend's WrestleMania 42. See above for the aftershock effects of a blow that's left the reigning WWE Champion in concussion protocol.

Dave Meltzer revealed the concussion protocol news during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, but Rhodes himself has since shared word on what doctors had to say about his pain. They offered "positive yet absurd" word that Cody "won't lose the eye".

The top WWE star posted those comments via his Instagram story.

Docs managed to patch Rhodes up just enough that he was able to confront CM Punk on the post-'Mania edition of Raw this past Monday. There, Punk owned his own World Heavyweight Title defeat to reborn Bloodline leader Roman Reigns 24 hours before, then stared at Cody's belt and seemed to challenge his friend to a match.

It isn't clear whether or not WWE creative will move towards that quickly or if it was a seed planted for next year's supershow in Saudi Arabia. As fans, we'll just have to wait and see, but it's obviously a good thing that Rhodes won't lose his eye! What a sentence to hear from medics.

Thankfully, Cody didn't shatter his orbital bone (or really even damage it at all) during the match. He'd be facing significant time on the shelf had that been the case. There was visible bruising in and around his eye on Raw, however.
