Acey Romero Granted Release From IMPACT Wrestling
Acey Romero is gone from IMPACT Wrestling after requesting his release.
Acey Romero has officially been granted his release from IMPACT Wrestling.
The news was first broken by AdFreeShows' Jon Alba, who reported on Tuesday evening that Romero had been let go by the Anthem-helmed promotion. Sean Ross Sapp followed up with further details on Fightful Select, detailing how Romero doesn't have a no-compete clause attached to his contract, effectively allowing him to work for any promotion immediately. Due to the nature of his contract being on a pay-per-appearance deal, Acey hadn't been paid since April.
Fightful Select reported at the end of August that Acey had requested his release from IMPACT, having not appeared since a May broadcast of Before The IMPACT. This new report also states that the relevant paperwork took a few weeks to process, hence the delay in Acey actually gaining his release.
Acey was signed to IMPACT the night before Bound For Glory 2019, being offered a contract in-ring by Scott D'Amore. He then took part in the pay-per-view's X Division Title ladder match, being part of a notable spot with Tessa Blanchard where he went crashing through a table from atop a ladder. Romero has since thanked IMPACT in a statement posted to his Twitter:-
I’ll see you when I see you..
