Adam Cole Teases WWE Exit
Could this Sunday prove to be the former NXT Champion's swansong?
With Adam Cole's current WWE deal reportedly due to expire at the end of this month, the former Undisputed Era has taken to social media with a post that some would take as a tease of his impending WWE exit.
The one-time NXT Champion has proclaimed how this coming Sunday is the end of an era, which has got certain wrestling fans buzzing about Cole departing WWE and possibly making his way to A.N. Other promotion (see: AEW).
The end of the ERA. This Sunday. I shock the system. #NXTTakeOver https://t.co/JTJvlTCyPV

Of course, while some will take this as an indicator that the era being ended is Adam Cole's WWE tenure, others will see this as nothing more than Cole stating how this Sunday's NXT TakeOver 36 match against Kyle O'Reilly will be the true end of the Undisputed Era - the faction he and O'Reilly were in with Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish.
It has previously been reported that Cole's WWE contract actually expired last month and that he had signed a one-month extension to get him through until the end of August. Talks have been ongoing over re-signing with WWE - including a well-received meeting with Vince McMahon - but there has yet to be any official word on whether the hugely talented star will be staying with WWE or instead opt to try his hand elsewhere.
