Adam Cole's NXT Championship Defences Ranked From Worst To Best

5. Jordan Myles (NXT TV, 4th September 2019)

An underrated gem that'll likely be forever lost to the acrimony between Jordan 'ACH' Myles and WWE, this micro-banger came just before NXT itself transformed into the two-hour USA Network vehicle that exists today.

The story was effortlessly told by two total pros. As winner of that summer's Breakout tournament, the rookie Myles had a chance to win the big one with no build. Battered and bruised from his TakeOver: Toronto war with Johnny Gargano, Cole's job was to mask the injuries and win out with authoritative experience.

Arrogantly picking his spots and no-selling Myles' hopeful moments, Cole's greasy demeanour throughout reflected a bright spotlight on his talented challenger. It was as much a fight between Cole and his own face as it was the hugely under-appreciated opposition. He sneered at the prospect of being put in trouble, A nearfall from an utterly gorgeous swan dive splash was stupendous, as was Cole's cut-off when Myles seemed to find the right time and place to hit is Midnight Star 450 splash.

Cole had to smash Myles with two superkicks before hitting the Last Shot after the fact, tacitly putting over how much harder the defence had been than he'd been willing to let on.
