During his chat with Steve Austin on The Rattlesnake's popular podcast, AEW President Tony Khan alluded to a tag team title tournament set to commence when AEW inaugurates on TNT this autumn.

Shortly after the pod dropped, the company indirectly but officially confirmed the plans, revealing a match set for the upcoming Fyter Fest with a huge stipulation.

As part of the Daytona, FL event's pre-show, The Buy In, tag teams The Best Friends, SCU and Private Party will meet in a triple threat, with the winners advancing to All Out "for an opportunity at a first round bye in the AEW World Tag Team Title tournament."

Let's unwrap that stipulation for a moment, as it's a little convoluted: whichever team wins on the 29 June show will earn the right to compete for a free first round pass when the tag tournament begins in earnest this October.

In other words, teams can win two matches for the chance to skip one. Hmm.

The work on offer should make up for these minor logical quibbles. Tony Khan has already promised AEW will have the best tag team wrestling around, spearheaded by superteams The Young Bucks and The Lucha Brothers. Fyter Fest's pre-show treat is a very good start.

It was also announced that Christopher Daniels will take on Cima on the main show.

Fyter Fest is scheduled for Saturday 29 June, from Daytona's Beach Ocean Center, and will stream live, for free, on Bleacher Report.
