6. JR Would Be More Effective In A Duo
Before Double Or Nothing, Jim Ross happily soaked up well-wishes on social media but seemed to downplay his big commentary comeback a tad. He didn't need to do that. At times during the show, JR returned to his old Attitude era form and showed why WWE miss the power of his phrasing, kinship with the audience and knowledge of when to verbally duck and dive to enhance or even save certain spots.
JR, we're delighted to report, still has it.
One thing he could use however is a solid wingman. It's not that fellow broadcasters Alex Marvez and Excalibur were bad (they weren't), but Ross has always been better as part of a two-man team. The fact that Marvez was obviously the main play-by-play man and Excalibur there to add colour didn't do much for good ol' JR.
He appeared lost in the shuffle a few times during the show, which was a shame. If AEW can streamline their broadcasts, draft in a partner for Ross (whether it's Jerry Lawler, if that's possible, or not) and keep the pair back for bigger pay-per-views, they'll be onto a winner.
