AEW Double Or Nothing 2024 Main Event Rocked By Injury Blow?
Feature player for Las Vegas pay-per-view now an injury doubt?
The AEW Double Or Nothing 2024 main event might have just lost one of its key players to injury.
Eddie Kingston will form part of "Team AEW" for the show's signature Anarchy In The Arena contest, linking up with Bryan Danielson and FTR to take on The Elite, but he may now be - at best - working hurt for the Vegas card on May 26th.
'The Mad King' was seen to be limping following the loss of his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship to Gabe Kidd at Saturday's Resurgence card in Ontario, California, and per Fightful Select, it's for real.
Noting the legitimacy of his limp rather than Kingston simply selling, the report noted;
"We're told that Kingston got hurt to some extent on the table suplex spot. Kingston needed assistance after that, but was able to walk with a bad limp backstage following the match...We have no idea of the severity, but for those asking, Kingston was battling a legit injury following the match."
Expect more news on Kingston in the days ahead, especially with limited television time between now and the upcoming pay-per-view.
Saturday's match marked the third title defeat this year for Kingston, having lost the AEW Continental Championship to Kazuchika Okada on the March 20th Dynamite before dropping the Ring Of Honor World Heavyweight Championship to Mark Briscoe at Supercard Of Honor 2024. He's worked 16 matches in 2024, including a multi-man loss alongside PAC and Penta El Zero Miedo against The Jacksons and Okada on the March 13th Dynamite that helped launch much of The Elite's on-screen dominance.
