AEW Dynamite To Air In Normal Wednesday Timeslot This Week
The Wednesday Night Wars officially resume this week.
The Wednesday Night Wars are back.
AEW has confirmed that this week's episode of Dynamite will air in its usual Wednesday night timeslot following developments in the NBA playoffs. Had the recently-concluded series between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers gone to seven games, their final showdown would have aired on TNT on Wednesday, clashing with Dynamite. Thus, the AEW show was pre-emptively moved to a one-hour broadcast on Thursday.
The change is no longer necessary, however: the Lakers beat the Rockets to go 4-1 over them on Sunday, ending the series.
It is expected that the pretaped one-hour Dynamite will go down next Tuesday, 22 September, instead of this coming Thursday. The show was recorded in Jacksonville last week.
This will be the first time Dynamite and WWE NXT have gone head-to-head in several weeks, with both shows posting significant increases in viewership and 18-49 ratings unopposed. Last week was particularly notable, with AEW hitting more than 1 million viewers for the first time since October 2019, leading to continued calls for the Wednesday Night Wars to come to a permanent end.
It'll be interesting to see what impact the Wars' resumption has on viewership this week.
